Sculptured from the splendid shoreline of the Southern beaches, Mui Ne is home to a handful of alluring hotels and resorts. Thanks to the hot tropical climate, this is, without doubt, sheer heaven for pure elation from a beach getaway. Besides leisurely relaxation, there are a lot of exciting activities like kitesurfing or motorcycling across great golden sand dunes.
Weather
Mui Ne is located in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province. It is characterized by a tropical monsoon climate with sunny and windy weather. There are two distinct seasons: the rainy season lasts from May to October, while the dry season starts in November and ends in April. The temperature is high at around 29 degrees all year round. The average rainfall is 800-2000 mm per year.
How To Get There
There are no direct flights from Hanoi to Mui Ne, so if you want to travel to Mui Ne, you should fly to Saigon (2 hours) and then drive to Mui Ne (4 hours and a half).
Highlights
Hon Rom:
This place has a strange attraction because there are many strange-shaped rocks facing the sea. Especially in the rainy season, the whole mountain is covered with the deep green of nature. In the dry season, it is covered with yellow grass. Looking from afar, Hon Rom is like a giant mound of wheat straw. That’s why it is named Hon Rom (lands of straws).
Red Sand Dunes:
The brilliant color of the sand is a magnet for many visitors. A rough calculation shows that there are up to 18 different colors in Mui Ne Red Sand Dunes.
Bau Trang - Bau Sen:
Bau Trang - Bau Sen is 18km from Hon Rom. These are two natural freshwater lakes located between immense white sandhills. In Bau Trang, you can admire the lotus bloom in the middle of the white sandhill in the summer. On the other hand, Bau Sen is a vast lake with deep blue water surrounded by pure beautiful crystal sand dunes.
Suoi Tien (Fairy Spring):
Fairy Spring is a small stream located next to Hon Rom. Next to the stream are naturally red and white stalactites. The erosion of time and weather has created strange and exotic shapes, adding soul to the rocks.
Fishing Village in Mui Ne:
The fishing village of Mui Ne is located about 3 km to the north of the city center. At the entrance to the village, you can see hundreds of colorful fishing boats anchored on the beachfront. Not far from the port is a small colorful market with the peaceful beauty of the Southwest countryside, typified by the coconut palms
Culture
Mui Ne is one of the ancient Champa kingdoms. Most of the famous names originate from the Cham people. The quintessence of the ancient Cham people was retained, refined and blended with the most beautiful culture of Vietnam.
Best Time To Visit
Mui Ne is located in the tropics, less affected by the northeast monsoon, so you can travel at almost any time of the year. April and May are the hottest months, the temperature sometimes goes up to 40 degrees. The best time to visit Mui Ne from April to August because of the fresh and cool sea. From September onwards, Mui Ne enters the rainy season. The beach might be spoiled with the red sand, unsuitable for swimming.
