Upcoming festivals to be held in Lao Cai, Vietnam

From August through October 2023, Bac Ha District in Lao Cai Province will host the Autumn White Plateau Festival, under the captivating theme "Autumn colors in the Plateau." This eagerly anticipated festival serves as a remarkable gathering for both domestic and international visitors, providing an exquisite opportunity to immerse themselves in the picturesque scenery.

The Bac Ha Autumn White Plateau Festival 2023 promises a delightful array of engaging activities. Notably, the Festival of the Army of Trung Do Temple and the inauguration of the Autumn Festival in 2023 will take place on the 25th and 26th of August 2023 at the esteemed National Historical and Cultural Relic of Trung Do Temple, situated in Trung Do village, Bao Nhai commune. The event will be enriched with a diverse display of cultural, artistic, and sporting engagements. Additionally, on the 2nd of September 2023, a significant ceremony will be held in Hoang Thu Pho commune to announce the Vietnamese heritage tree, the ancient Shan Tuyet tea.

Furthermore, from the 1st to the 2nd of September 2023, Bac Ha District will host the 2nd Bac Ha General Sport Tourism Tournament. This exciting tournament encompasses various captivating competitions, including the Northwest Mountain Marathon - Lao Cai 2023, the Public Marathon “Discover the Bac Ha White Plateau in 2023” the Triathlon General Sports Tournament (comprising running, cycling, and kayaking), and the Experiential Sports Tourism Programme known as "Bac H'Adventure."

Moreover, the "Savour of Plateau Green Rice Festival" will be organized in Bac Ha Cultural Market on the 23rd and 24th of September 2023. During this event, visitors can witness captivating demonstrations of traditional crafts in green rice processing and participate in engaging contests centered around crafting dishes from green rice.

Additionally, the enchanting Full Moon Festival will feature a captivating light procession along the roads in Bac Ha town, accompanied by a delightful tray contest between participating teams. This spectacular event will align with the full moon of the mid-autumn festival on the 29th of September 2023, corresponding to the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.

Furthermore, on the 7th of October 2023, visitors and residents alike will have the opportunity to partake in tea-making activities, engage in captivating tea storytelling sessions, relish tea tastings, and admire the splendid terraced fields in the golden season of ripe rice, all set against the backdrop of Ban Lien commune.
